About the School

Blundell’s is a 400-year old school set in the beautiful rolling hills of Devon, in the South West of England. It is a school that prides itself in outstanding pastoral care for all its pupils. The easy rapport between staff and pupils means that they are well known by their teachers and these strong relationships form the foundation for the success that pupils achieve in the classroom, on the sport pitches, in the theatre and in the various musical ensembles, choirs and orchestras that make up a Blundell’s education.

This is a school that believes deeply that success comes as a consequence of paying careful and close attention to the process of educating and raising young men and women of consequence, with an intention that each pupil finds areas in which they can be successful and enjoy achievement. Staff strive to ensure that pupils leave Blundell’s with a passion and purpose to make a difference in the world into which they go.

This is an ancient school and one with deep roots, yet is a school which innovates and is forward thinking in educational outlook, embracing technology and harnessing it to support pupils. Teaching practices earnestly seeks to engage with the latest research in teaching and learning as well as in pastoral care. An extensive academic enrichment programme helps pupils to get into the top universities in the United Kingdom and The United States, with notable success in the Sciences and in Medicine.

Blundell’s is very much a school of Devon but in this secluded part of the country is a hub for intellectual curiosity – the community is enriched by the 100 international pupils who come from over 20 different countries. In this nurturing environment pupils find a home from home where they make lifelong friendships with pupils from all walks of life. Each pupil brings their own life experiences which become a source of learning for their peers and it is in this manner that the school becomes a springboard for pupils to achieve success all over the world in a wide variety of professions.
