About the School

Since its foundation, Strathallan School set out to provide an education that offers opportunities for every pupil to excel. That ethos has remained central ever since, and last year saw Strathallan named Independent School of the Year for International Student Experience. Strathallan’s aim has always been to bring out the very best in every pupil, and the non-selective admissions policy means they welcome pupils with a vast range of interests and individual strengths that can be nurtured. Some go on to play sports for their country, others excel academically or artistically, and still more are good all-rounders. Each success is celebrated, encouraging all to thrive.

Strathallan’s safe, rural campus occupies 153 acres of glorious Perthshire countryside and there is always something new to discover. The School has invested heavily in facilities – over £22 million in the past 15 years and clearly takes pride in having one of the best-equipped teaching environments in the country. Whatever you are interested in, you’ll find a place for it at Strathallan.

It’s this focus on providing a personal, tailored education and a broad range of experiences that really sets the school apart. As the only co-educational school in Scotland to offer a full curriculum of Highers, Advanced Highers and A-Levels, as well as the interest-based Extended Project Qualification, the academic choices are impressive.

The school becomes home to every one of the boarding and day pupils: friendly, welcoming, with a strong sense of community. They believe in celebrating achievements large and small, fostering strong values, and embracing diversity. Most teachers live onsite, and everyone has an important role to play within the Strathallan family – all are proud of thepastoral setup, which the Care Inspectorate rated Grade 6 (Excellent) at their most recent inspection, describing Strathallan’s pupil care and support as ‘sector-leading’.

Most importantly, Strathallan is a school where effort is rewarded, pupils feel valued, and where they are given the time and encouragement to grow into capable, confident young men and women. Strathallians leave the school with the skills and knowledge to succeed, friendships that last a lifetime, and the confidence to face life’s challenges and make their mark on the world.

Staff and Student Quotes

“At Strathallan we pride ourselves in putting the individual first and really getting to know what makes the individual tick. This is so very true for our International pupils where a team of dedicated staff really do get to know our pupils and are there to support them from whichever corner of the globe they come from.”

Mr. David Giles
Director of International Study Programmes

“I truly love being an international student at Strathallan. My experience in Strath has always been very welcoming. Since the day I arrived I made a lot of friends within my house that I now call brothers, it was really easy because you live with them and interact with them all the time. I feel very comfortable within my house and it helps when home is so far away, I really like my house and strath. “
