About the School

Set in a beautiful 56-acre site, Taunton School nurtures the individual in a friendly and broad-minded atmosphere, equipping young people with relevant life skills, allowing them to grow in confidence and within a very secure learning environment. Taunton School aspires to offer a complete journey of education and growth to all children and young adults, unearthing and nurturing the talent within every individual.

Taunton School has a long history of supporting children from all over the world – its International School has been running for some twenty-five years, allowing a culture of understanding, welcome and tolerance to grow and permeate throughout the whole school. Taunton School prides itself of a mix of nationalities within its boarding houses, where young adults have access to abundant cultural and sporting activities. With close friends at hand, they have the opportunity to develop life skills within a relaxed but well-controlled atmosphere. Although the emphasis is on academic study, Taunton School ensures that our older individuals have ample opportunities to take responsibility, while not losing their social interests.

As a non-selective school, Taunton School has achieved consistently excellent GCSE results and some of the most exceptional value-adding A-level and International Baccalaureate results in South-West England. Approximately 96% of all Sixth Form leavers take up university or college places.

Taunton School considers human potential as the most valuable of assets. Taunton School offers scholarships carrying a range of discounts and they expect scholars to develop in their chosen specialist areas. Extended opportunities are available to develop in sport, music, drama and art, testing skills to the full.

Staff and Student Quotes

The well-being of our students is at the heart of everything we do and all of our decisions must be of direct benefit to them.  Our main focus is on ensuring that we prepare young people for their lives beyond school and in a world that changes rapidly. Throughout their lives, our children will work closely with people from across the globe and must adapt to a world of ever changing technology.

As an IB World School, we are innovative, forward thinking, global in outlook and down to earth in approach. We recognise that a balanced education is vital in developing the whole person. We offer a number of educational pathways to our students, allowing for a far more flexible and tailor-made approach to teaching and learning.

At Taunton School inspirational teaching can be seen and heard everywhere – from battle re-enactments in History, rockets launching in Design and Technology, to philosophical arguments and debates heard over lunch, and the sound of music rehearsals ringing from the Theatre.  We instil a love for learning which stays with an individual throughout their life.

Headmaster

“I started at TS in the sixth form where I studied A Levels in Computer Science, Economics and Maths.”

“I chose to come to this school after visiting several schools in the UK. I was so impressed with Taunton School, especially the breadth of subjects and co-curricular activities on offer. When I saw the amazing grounds I knew it was the place for me. I settled in very quickly and it was great to find so many new friends very quickly.”I am always kept busy, there is so much to do.  I enjoy basketball and swimming competitively and having use of the swimming pool and gym is great. I hope to stay in the UK when I leave TS and go to University. I would definitely recommend Taunton School to my friends back home.”
