Why use an Educational Consultant?

Jimmy Beale

Schools are different. Children are different. There is no school in the UK which can

claim to be the best fit for every child.

Using an education consultant is an important decision, and it can make all the difference

I would suggest that many parents have an imperfect knowledge when it comes to

selecting the best independent school for their child, especially when looking for a

boarding school when based at home outside of the UK. That is perfectly

understandable.

Your child needs to be in a school where they feel academically challenged; surrounded by respectful, equally ambitious and kind peers; looked after with individual attention by staff who understand their needs, strengths and weaknesses; in a school which communicates with you as parents with respect and honesty; and where they will be busy and motivated

Any highly-reputed educational consultant / consultancy will support families as they

seek to make a hugely important decision – a decision, which if made with care and

attention, will have positive life-lasting impacts upon their son or daughter.

You must trust your consultant. For this to happen, you should be confident that they:

Get to know you as parents, understanding and respecting your ambitions

and agenda;

Get to know your child – this goes beyond simply relying upon the information

you feed in, as parents, we all have a tendency to think our child is the best

thing, ever…. or information given by their current school; you need your

consultant to take a deep dive, using their experience as an educator to fully

understand your son’s or daughter’s profile, including their academic base

and academic potential. Your consultant will need to see what makes your

child tick;

Have good relationships with schools here in the UK, a relationship that goes

beyond the commercial… before you engage a consultant, ask them if there

are certain schools which pay them introducer fees. If there are, and those

schools are on your ‘recommended’ list, question whether decisions being

made in the best interest of your child. Seek those with integrity. Seek those

who are trusted and respected by schools;

Can handle the process with timely professionalism. Not only will they

recommend great, suitable schools, but they will also manage applications,

recommend tutors if academic support is necessary, conduct thorough

interview practice sessions, arrange visits and guide you all the way through

to your child being accepted at the very best fit school.

The work undertaken by a top quality educational consultant always proves to be

invaluable. Your child needs to be in a school where they feel academically

challenged; surrounded by respectful, equally ambitious and kind peers; looked after

with individual attention by staff who understand their needs, strengths and

weaknesses; in a school which communicates with you as parents with respect and

honesty; and where they will be busy and motivated – pull all of that together and

you have made the right choice of school.

Choose your consultant with care. They will help you choose a school with care. If

they deserve your trust, trust them. If they don’t deserve that trust, don’t engage

them.
